Williams is a sociocultural anthropologist and registered nurse, emphasizing community-based research and local knowledge as a tool for better outcomes in health. She is particularly concerned with pursuing and fostering an interdisciplinary dialogue as a means to facilitate solutions. Her past work has focused on the centrality of place in identity and social practice. Her interests include global health, heritage and identity, place, discourse analysis and cosmologies.
