Federal Health-Care Reform: Opportunities for Obesity Prevention


Health-Care Reform (The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L.
111-148)) may be an important Solution Bridge to help end obesity in the United
States. The Act is poised to improve the obese patient’s access to health care, the quality of the health care they receive, and the mix of health-care providers that treat them. In addition, The Act promotes the expansion of health-enhancing environments and workplaces. Through this legislation, the obese patient is likely to have greater opportunity to lose weight and achieve improved physical and mental health.
